Thad Smith

Thad G. Smith, J.D. (42) has spent 17 years in the commercial, industrial and investment real estate business. Mr. Smith began his real estate career with internships at Grubb and Ellis in Chicago and Big Industrial in Kansas City. He joined Big Industrial full time in 2003 following law school. Mr. Smith assisted Big Industrial in the development of its national acquisition platform, facility management process and in its sales and leasing programs. Prior to the partnership sale, Mr. Smith served eight years as Manager of Big Industrial’s leasing and sales department. Mr. Smith was also involved with Big Industrial’s legal counsel as an in-house legal advisor. He has been involved in numerous land development and sales transactions, joint ventures and office building management and transactions. Mr. Smith served as one of its legal advisors in Big Industrial’s sale of its interest in a 5.5m s.f. Industrial portfolio. He is now an investor, Principal and leads the company’s sales and leasing efforts and is a member of the management team and Board Member. Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Business from Kansas University, an MBA from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, and a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Whittier College in Orange County, Ca. He has completed both the CCIM Financial and Society of Industrial and Office Realtor coursework.
