Stephen joined Capital Associates in 2001. While at Capital, Stephen has handled a variety of transactions, acting as a development/project manager, leasing agent, and broker. This work has included general office, medical office, retail, flex, and industrial properties. Stephen is responsible for property acquisition, new development business, and the brokerage and leasing work for selected clients. His development work has proven beneficial to brokerage and leasing clients because of his insight into their prospective properties. Prior to joining Capital, Stephen spent 8 years in real estate lending as a Vice President at Wachovia Bank, NA in the Raleigh-Durham area. During his tenure at the bank, Stephen performed the financial analysis, construction management, and lending negotiations for projects he financed. This experience gives Capital and Stephen’s clients the benefit of a strong understanding of the financial components of deal structuring, debt and equity. Stephen also has significant experience in negotiating loan documents providing Capital with an added resource for acquiring debt. Stephen is a past President of the Research Triangle Chapter of NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties) and continues to serve on the Board of Directors. Stephen also serves on NAIOP’s national Tax and Finance Committee. He sits on the Board of Directors for the TCC (Triangle Community Coalition) and is a member of the Young Alumni Fundraising Committee for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Stephen is a member of the NCCBI (North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry) and currently serves on their Education Committee. Stephen has also served on the Advisory Board for the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, as a volunteer for Young Life. Stephen received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of North Carolina.
