Shane Poppen

Shane Poppen is a Vice Chairman and serves as Market Leader for Savills San Diego office and West region co-leader of the firm’s Life Sciences practice. He offers clients high-level market knowledge that creates leverage and opportunities that align with companies’ business objectives and real estate goals. His expertise encompasses site selection, strategic planning and needs assessment, financial analysis, negotiation and transaction structuring for lease relocations, build-to-suit developments, and property acquisitions. Prior to joining Savills, Shane was executive vice president at Hughes Marino. He led the HM Science Division for the global corporate real estate advisory firm. Shane is recognized as an expert in high-value, time-critical and complex transactions. Over his career, he has completed transactions totaling over 20 million square feet. Shane has represented a wide array of life science clients specializing in biotech, medical devices, instrumentation and healthcare, in addition to industrial, manufacturing, office and technology industries. Shane has been recognized for his professional and personal accomplishments, including being awarded the Irvine Company’s Broker of the Year award. The San Diego Business Journal has named Shane in its “25 in their 20s” list. His commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism is evident through his board service with the Magdalena Ecke YMCA of San Diego County, past board service with the McAlister Institute, and Board Committee roles with Feeding San Diego and UCSD Athletics. Shane was a four-year letter winner and captain of UCSD’s Men’s Basketball Team and continues his passion through coaching youth basketball for the NJB and YMCA organizations. Shane enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Becky, and his four children, Anabelle, Owen, Rosalie, and Eloise.
