Sami Katri is the driving force behind the success of Metropolitan Property Group. Coming to New York from Israel in 1989, Sami worked with his family in retail owning and developing stores throughout the city while focusing on his education at New York University. In 1994, he decided to follow his lifelong dreams and emerged into the real estate industry as a salesperson hanging his license at a boutique company Dwelling Quest. Sami solidified his passion and strengthened his knowledge of the business while setting and achieving his goals regularly, becoming the top producing agent in the company. After 2 years he obtained his broker’s license, put his entrepreneurial dreams to the test and opened SDK Real Estate. Transitioning from a successful real estate agent to business owner is not an easy task but Sami had a vision that he was able to expand on and opened a successful independent brokerage that, after 2 years tripled in size and moved from a 12 person office to a 40 person office on Park Avenue South. Sami watched the real estate industry change and realized the need for a new name, focusing on New York City was a necessity and in 1998 he renamed the company Metropolitan Property Group. Within his first year with Metropolitan Property Group, Sami knew he had the knowledge and tools to create something different and offered his agents, clients and customers a fresh outlook on the business, ensuring longevity and success. In 2005, Sami and Metropolitan Property Group expanded and opened up a second office in Midtown East. In addition to this growth, Sami moved his Park Avenue South office to a 75 person office on Fifth Avenue. During this time he solidified his name and obtained relationships with the top management companies in Manhattan. With this, Sami was able to guarantee his team access to all of New York City’s rental inventory which allowed Metropolitan Property Group to meet and exceed monthly and annual goals year after year. As the market took a down turn in 2007, Sami made a promise to his agents that he and his company would not fail. This dedication and promise gave his team the motivation and drive continue working in the business and while other companies were struggling and closing their doors, Metropolitan Property Group continued to grow and the agents continued to produce. After spending much time focusing on residential rentals, Sami knew that there were many other factors needed to maintain success and expanded internally opening up a sales division and a commercial division in 2008 and in 2009 opened up at third office on 3rd Avenue and 43rd Street bringing his agent roster up to 150.
