Michael Baker is a commercial real estate agent specializing in the sale and lease of commercial properties in central Pennsylvania. A local, homegrown product, Michael graduated from The Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business and Schreyer Honors College with a BS in Accounting. Following graduation, Michael stayed in State College and attended The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor degree with honors. During his time at Penn State Law, Michael was a summer associate at Delaware’s oldest law firm, Potter Anderson and Corroon LLP, where he worked on cases before the highly regarded Delaware Court of Chancery. As a newly minted lawyer, Michael remained in central Pennsylvania as a practicing attorney with Houck & Gingrich Law Offices, a small, boutique law firm specializing in real estate law. Michael presided over many residential and commercial real estate transactions, from the drafting and signing of sales agreements, through the title search and title insurance procurement stage, and finishing with the closing and post-closing processes. Michael was also involved in various forms of real estate litigation, including mortgage foreclosures, quiet title actions, eminent domain proceedings, and easement disputes. Experience in real estate law provided Michael with a vast array of knowledge and skills that have been highly transferable and greatly utilized in his present role as a commercial real estate agent. After four (4) years of practicing law, Michael decided to shift gears and assume the role of Director of Fiscal Affairs for the County of Mifflin. In that position, Michael helps manage a yearly budget of over $30,000,000, participates in weekly decisions regarding all facets of local government, including personnel matter, budgeting for capital improvement projects, and assisting in financial reporting for a wide-array of state and federal grants. Michael continued to utilize his legal degree as well by serving as Assistant Solicitor and offering insight into legal matters ranging from general contract review and interpretation to researching complex legal questions on real estate tax sales, real estate assessment, and labor matters. Michael became a licensed Pennsylvania Real Estate Salesperson and joined PKA Realty Advisors and Brokerage in the fall of 2019, and he looks forward to assisting you in your needs for buying and selling commercial real estate in the Central Pennsylvania region!
