After leaving the Canadian Army (that was a while ago!), I joined Fortune 50 United Technologies Corporation and the world of jet engine manufacturing. That launched a successful and global +25-year career in aerospace, where I eventually led large organizations in the US, Canada, Hong Kong, and Latin America. It was aviation that brought our family from Montreal, Canada to Southern California – leaving the snow and freezing winters behind to live our amazing SoCal lifestyle has been a long-time goal truly fulfilled. The teams I led – marketing, purchasing, contracting, business development, and IT – provided me with the deep business and people skills that serve my clients today. What’s different? My former clients were airline operators, government, and military groups around the world. I very often used to fly to get to work. I no longer spend time optimizing aircraft fleet maintenance programs and supply chains for fun. What’s the same? Creativity. Negotiations. Crafting the right deal for the people involved. Foreseeing issues, and where they can’t be avoided, finding solutions quickly. An intense focus on understanding what the client wants and needs. An intense work ethic.
