As the Managing Director of East Bay Retail Services for TRI Commercial, John focuses on representing tenants in their expansion throughout Northern California and advising/representing landlords and investors in all phases of shopping center development, leasing, re-positioning, and investment sales. John has represented numerous retail and restaurant tenants in their expansion in the San Francisco Bay Area. A sampling of tenants, on an exclusive basis, include Panera Bread, Flatstick Pub, Fuddruckers, Buckhorn, 9 Round, ILKB, TGI Fridays, Denica’s Real Food Kitchen, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Jack in the Box, Regal Cinemas, 7-Eleven, UJI Time, Alamo Drafthouse, Philly Cheesesteak, Las Montanas, Patio World, Spicy Joi, Tasty Pot and Coconut Hill. Additionally, on a preferred or co-broker status, John has worked with Chevron, Ruth’s Chris Restaurants, HSBC, Bank of the West, Maya Cinemas, Poke Bowl, Spice Klub, and The Floor Store. John also has extensive shopping center sales experience and has been involved in the investment sales of several major grocery/drug anchored shopping centers in Northern California. John began his commercial real estate career in 1981 with Bishop Hawk in San Jose. He transitioned over to Grubb & Ellis Company where he was a top producer and spent the next 13 years building his retail real estate career. In 1999, John joined Colliers International working as the co-director for the retail division, where he was the top producing sales agent. For eleven years John was an integral part in building the retail platform for Colliers International. Subsequently, John helped open the Walnut Creek office for Transwestern in 2012, where he was the Director of the Retail Services and perennial top producer. In 2019, John joined the Walnut Creek office of TRI Commercial Real Estate as director of the retail services division, and top producer where he continues today as offering his clients his expertise. John was a partner in developing Brentwood Junction a 65,000 square foot center anchored by Best Buy and Walgreens in Brentwood, California, and Brentwood Station, a 75,000 square foot center anchored by Office Max, Ashley Furniture and Chuck E Cheese. John was hired by the City of Brentwood to conduct a marketing study with the goal of attracting new and diverse retail anchor tenants to the City of Brentwood, and he has been hired by the City of Walnut Creek to sell their excess land. John has also been in charge of leasing two of the largest open air shopping centers in the East Bay totaling over 1.1 million square feet, from the ground up, and representing Sierra Pacific Properties on five shopping centers in the East Bay, successfully leasing them to 95% - 100% occupied. Additionally, John has represented numerous developers in Walnut Creek leasing their retail centers and mixed-use projects John was a partner in developing Brentwood Junction a 65,000 square foot center anchored by Best Buy and Walgreens in Brentwood, California, and Brentwood Station, a 75,000 square foot center anchored by Office Max, Ashley Furniture, and Chuck E Cheese. John was instrumental in helping to develop Slatten Ranch, a 440,000 SF power center in Antioch, CA anchored by Target, Barnes & Noble, and Bed Bath and Beyond. John was hired by the City of Brentwood to conduct a marketing study with the goal of attracting new and diverse retail anchor tenants to the City of Brentwood, and he was hired by the City of Walnut Creek to sell their excess land. John has also been in charge of leasing two of the largest open-air shopping centers in the East Bay totaling over 1.1 million square feet, from the ground up, and representing Sierra Pacific Properties on five shopping centers in the East Bay, successfully leasing them to 98% occupied. Additionally, John has represented numerous developers in Walnut Creek and Concord leasing their retail centers and high-end mixed-use projects. John currently represents three of the most prominent mixed-use projects in Walnut Creek and Concord.
