John Duffie joined forces with Richard Nelson in March 2004 to found Nelson Duffie Interests. Prior to this partnership, John spent six years with Midway Companies, where he served as Executive Vice President of their Marketing/Acquisitions and Development groups. In this capacity, he was integrally engaged in all facets of Midway’s business. During his 33 years in the Houston commercial real estate market, John has gained experience in all aspects of the industry, primarily office and industrial property development, disposition, acquisition, tenant and owner representation, and consulting. Noteworthy positions include; Senior Vice President of Trione & Gordon; Vice President, Southern Region of Koll Companies; Director of Cushman & Wakefield of Texas, and Vice President of The Horne Company where he began his career. Remaining active in many commercial real estate organizations, John served as 2012 President of NAIOP and served as chairman of its Howard W. Horne Legacy Award Committee. He is also a past member of the UH Bauer School Real Estate Program Advisory Board. In addition, he served as president of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Houston Gulf Coast Chapter; Vice President, Treasurer & Director of the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR), and Director of the Texas Association of Realtors (TAR). John earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Bauer School at the University of Houston. He and his family are members of St. Luke’s United Method Church where he has served as a member of its Foundation Board and as chair of its Real Estate Committee for 15 years. His other community involvement includes board membership and Secretary of Executive Committee for Goodwill Industries of Houston where he is chairman of the Real Estate committee and member of the Goodwill Foundation Board of Directors. He also has served the City of Southside Place on the Planning and Zoning Committee, as well as its Building Committee for the new City Hall. He was also involved in the West University Little League for 17 years and is a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, as well as the Greater Houston Partnership.
