James is a partner and broker-in-charge at Cypress Real Estate Partners, LLC, with more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate. Previously with NAI Avant for 15 years, James focuses on NNN investment properties and general commercial real estate, which includes retail, office and industrial properties. James assists many different buyers and sellers who may become involved in 1031 exchanges, all cash investing or placement of debt and leveraging investments. James has extensive experience in multi and single tenant NNN investment real estate acquisition and disposition of assets and specializes in helping all buyers and sellers meet their real estate needs. In addition, he has a strong local and regional knowledge in the Carolinas combined with experience and expertise in all facets of commercial real properties. James also can work with clients on restructuring retail leases with the intent of asset disposition, investment portfolio analysis and restructuring. Over the span of his career James has brokered in excess of $200 million dollars of investment NNN deals for national, regional and local clients. Single and multi-tenant NNN deals have included Dollar General (over 50 stores), Advance Auto, Goodyear Tire, Wells Fargo, Aaron’s Rental, Tire Kingdom, Food Lion Centers, Lowes Foods, Wendy’s, CVS, Family Dollar, Blockbuster, O-Reilly’s Auto Parts, BI-LO, Westinghouse Corp., AutoZone, Cingular Wireless, Rite-Aid, Clear Mountain Spring Water and Swanson Foods. James was awarded the prestigious CCIM commercial real estate designation (http://www.ccim.com/). He served as President of the South Carolina CCIM chapter in 2007 and continues to serve on the organization’s state board. He has won the Greater Columbia Association of Realtors gold level commercial circle of excellence award for three consecutive years and been awarded the bronze award five times. James is a South Carolina native and a graduate of the College of Charleston. His community involvement includes membership in the Leadership Columbia Class of 2000 and serving on the Leadership Columbia Board from 2000 to 2002. He is currently on the City of Columbia Development Corporation Board, is a past member and volunteer for the Red Cross Development Committee, a former volunteer head coach for the Palmetto Baseball League and YMCA Soccer and has served on the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School Alumni Council. James and his wife Meg have two children and live in Columbia, SC, where they are active members of Shandon United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and hunting.
