Hazen Reed grew up in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, where summers were spent working in his family’s real estate business. He learned the business first-hand, doing everything from attending showings and collecting deposits to repairing windows, plumbing, and electrical -- all of which came in very handy when he and his wife Susan purchased, and restored, their first home in Windsor Terrace in Brooklyn, and then again, when they bought a 200-year-old tavern outside of Delhi in the Catskills. In between those early summers and today, Hazen has had fulfilling careers as a photographer, interactive media artist, media philosopher, computer programmer, interaction designer, marketing strategist, alpaca breeder, teacher and speaker. As a creative director for R/GA, Ad Age’s Agency of the Year 10 years in a row, Hazen enjoyed the benefits of working to help some of the planet’s most recognized brands learn to leverage the power of the digital age. Trusted by companies like Nike, IBM, Nestle, Purina, and the American Family and Immigration Center on Ellis Island to guide them in the best ways to utilize digital media to tell their stories, Hazen guided the development of hundreds online marketing projects. Upon moving to the Catskills in 1997 to explore the entrepreneurial spirit, he and Susan developed and maintained one of the largest alpaca herds in the North East, with over 90 head, and created the world’s first ever genetic improvement software for alpacas. In addition, leveraging their years of marketing expertise in NYC (Susan is an exceptional brand strategist and artist), the couple founded a boutique digital branding and marketing agency, with clients across the country. After years of living and loving the Catskills, it is only natural that Hazen should return to his roots and share his love of property and the unique buildings built upon it. The region is rich with architecturally significant examples, and the joy of sharing these riches with clients is immensely gratifying. Clients, in real estate, and in marketing, have trusted Hazen to guide them, and help them manage their complex transactions. With the real estate business turning ever-more to an online marketing business, it is also natural that Hazen would be among the most trusted guides to the property sales process. A loving and dedicated husband and father of twin boys, Hazen, coaches his boy’s youth soccer team, and when not listing, and selling properties throughout the central Catskills, you can find Hazen out running trails, mountain biking, canoeing, sailing, skiing and, yes, even gardening.
