Since 1981, Hal has enjoyed a successful career in the sales, leasing, exchange and management of residential and commercial real estate plus a few business opportunities. He began his career in real estate as a leasing agent in Ft. Collins, Colorado while attending Colorado State University. After graduating college, Hal ventured to Clearwater, Florida where he worked for U-Stor on the construction of self-storage projects and then served as a consultant to the same company where he evaluated the feasibility of the development of other self-storage projects in various parts of the country. He was later the Rocky Mountain representative for Mail Boxes, Etc. now known as the UPS Store, a national retail franchise. During his time as their representative, Hal helped negotiate leases for the company and successfully placed franchisees into numerous new sites in Colorado. Hal joined The Sherman Agency, Inc. (SAI) in 1985 and now serves as its President. Hal learned from the ground up, thereby gaining proven expertise in investment real estate, as owner, investor and broker. He understands the steps involved in identifying a solid real estate investment then taking it from acquisition to rehab to lease-up to occupancy to ROI. Whether the property type is self-storage, office, multi-family, industrial or retail, he can evaluate the merits of an opportunity and determine its feasibility. Hal has purchased, sold, and exchanged properties for his own account and his clients and has assisted investors in exchanging equities from one state to another in order to achieve their desired benefits. “We specialize in innovative and creative solutions to complex real estate problems,” said Hal. “Our solutions have resulted in profitable transactions which have benefited business owners/investors and tenants for many years.” In addition, Hal continues SAI’s strong commitment to community. “We strive to be good neighbors in the areas where we own and manage our properties. We are committed to the Arts, and it shows in many of our projects. Several of our properties are recognized by the public art that is our signature.” Hal takes great pride in having been involved in the management & leasing of Denargo Market, a collection of historical warehouses near Coors Field which sat on nearly 19 acres and consisted of 150,000 sq. ft. of commercial spaces. When the property was finally sold for redevelopment, its location was at the very heart of the re-creation of Denver’s Platte Valley. Hal also serves as an active board member for the Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort Condo Association, which consists of 350+ residential condominiums, a health club, and short-term rental program. A 3rd generation Colorado native, Hal enjoys all the state has to offer, often with his college-aged son. An avid skier and cycler, both road and mountain, he has participated in the Copper Triangle cycling event since 2006 which supports the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s. He also has participated in the Triple By-Pass cycling event as well as Ride the Rockies that raises funds for local non-profits in the communities it passes through. Through SAI, Hal is honored to be able to make a contribution to the building of communities and, ultimately, the creation of family legacies. “We understand the role the business of real estate plays in all of our lives,” Hal said, “And we deeply respect the importance of our role as advisors.”
