Greg Flaniken is a native of the area graduating from Brazosport High School in 1971 and from the University of Houston with a B.B.A. in 1975. He received his real estate license in 1975 and opened his own company in 1977. He has completed numerous classes in real estate specialties, including appraisal, property management and 1031 tax deferred exchanges. He has served on the Brazoria County Appraisal District’s review board, the Velasco Drainage District, past president of the Brazoria County Board of Realtors, Chairman of the Professional Standards Committee, past president of the Freeport League, trustee for Brazosport Memorial Hospital, director for Brazosport Medical Clinic and numerous other local organizations. He and his wife, Michelle Flaniken, reside in Lake Jackson. They have one son, Zachary Shields (married to Carrie Ann Shields) and 2 grandchildren. They are members of the First United Methodist Church in Freeport.
