Drew Chaplin

Mr. Chaplin founded Palmetto Commercial Real Estate in early 2001 after seventeen successful years in the commercial real estate field. Since the inception of his company, Palmetto Commercial Real Estate has become an industry leader among the commercial firms throughout North and South Carolina. Palmetto Commercial Real Estate is a full service brokerage firm specializing in office, retail, industrial, land and income properties. Mr. Chaplin has sold or leased over 10 million square feet of manufacturing and distribution space in his thirty three years in the commercial real estate business. His diversification into all market sectors of the business has rewarded him the opportunity to broker an extensive number of high profile retail and office projects totaling over 3.5 million square feet of improved space. He has sold over 2,800 acres of unimproved commercial land for industrial, office, retail, hospitality and food & beverage uses. Prior to starting his present company, Drew was Vice President and Sales Manager of Coldwell Banker Commercial Seaboard Properties of Florence where he was a board member and one of the original members in the company that began in 1993. Mr. Chaplin began his real estate career in Charlotte, NC with the nation’s largest commercial real estate services company, CBRE. As a senior associate he specialized for eight years in large manufacturing and distribution facilities in both North and South Carolina. During his tenure with CBRE, Drew has been ranked in the top five industrial brokers in the Southeast, within CB Richard Ellis. Mr. Chaplin, a Hartsville, South Carolina native and 1977 graduate of the University of South Carolina, has held regional sales positions with General Electric Power Systems and Siemens Energy and Automation prior to joining CBRE in 1985. With an emphasis on community involvement, Mr. Chaplin is a member of the Florence Baptist Temple, former Advisory Board Member of the USC School of Hospitality and Retail Sales, Board Member of Florence County Partnership, Chairman of the Florence City Planning Commission, Board Member of the Florence Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of The Salvation Army Advisory Board, member of The Kiwanis Club of Florence, Policy Committee Member and Study Team Member for the “Florence Area Transportation Study” (FLATS). He is a strong advocate for outdoor sports and recreation in the Pee Dee area of SC. Mr. Chaplin has triplets that have graduated from The Citadel, The College of Charleston, and Presbyterian College in South Carolina.
