Reflecting on this impressive journey, he can't help but wonder how time has swiftly passed since he embarked on his real estate career in Virginia Beach back in 1995. Doug's early days in real estate were filled with intriguing challenges, as he navigated the evolving landscape of technology adoption. The MLS (Multiple Listing Service) was in its nascent stages of computerization, albeit in a DOS-based format. These were transformative times for the industry, with significant shifts in how real estate transactions were conducted, particularly with the emergence of buyer representation. Recognizing the importance of staying ahead in the field, Doug placed great emphasis on education, especially in mastering the art of representing buyers effectively. During this phase, he successfully juggled the management of a remarkable portfolio of 180 rentals while simultaneously handling 15 transactions each year. In 2002, Doug embarked on a new chapter in his real estate journey by assuming the role of a managing broker, a position he held for the next seven years. This period was characterized by historic shifts in the real estate market, a testament to Doug's adaptability and expertise in navigating through changing tides. June 2009 marked a pivotal moment in Doug's career as he made the decision to transition from a managerial role to actively participating as a broker once more. In 2012, he and his team founded Town Real Estate Group, embarking on an exciting venture that brought joy and fulfillment to their real estate endeavors. The evolution continued in February 2016, when Town Real Estate Group evolved into Redefy Real Estate, a transformation that filled Doug and his team with immense enthusiasm and anticipation for the opportunities that lay ahead.
