Deborah McGill Smith

Deborah joined Cushman & Wakefield / EGS Commercial Real Estate in 2008. She specializes in industrial and land brokerage and brings a unique skill set to her clients due to her extensive background in the public sector and economic development. During her tenure at Cushman & Wakefield / EGS, she has utilized her expertise in land acquisition and development to assist clients, including Pharmavite and Hibbett Sports, on site selection for new facility locations. Additionally, Deborah has worked on numerous high-profile disposition assignments and sizeable industrial site location projects, the most recent of which was the site selection for Daimler and Mercedes-Benz U.S. International for their new Global Logistics Center, a 300-acre campus development with three new projects totaling over 2.6 million square feet. Deborah conducted communication for the project teams including site grading and provided coordination services for all utilities and infrastructure for the new campus. Deborah is one of the most sought after real estate brokers in Alabama for site acquisition assignments due to her extensive knowledge of sourcing land, land ownership and her ability to negotiate with land owners. Additionally, she has an in-depth understanding of permitting, infrastructure and addressing environmental issues with both greenfield and brownfield sites. Deborah’s select client list includes: Coleman World Group Daimler Real Estate Mercedes-Benz U.S. International UAB Medical West & UAB Health System Deborah received a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy University and a Masters of Public Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery. She is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), where she served on the National Board for six years. A demonstrated leader in the industry, she is also a nationally Certified Economic Developer and an instructor for real estate courses for the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
