Mr. Barber opened and has managed the Atlanta office for Binswanger since 1977. He has overall responsibility for industrial transactions and tenant representation for the Southeastern United States, with specific concentration in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. He has arranged the sale of such facilities as Great Dane’s 141,000 sq. ft. facility in Abbeville, SC; Onan’s 558,472 sq. ft. facility in Huntsville, AL; Black & Decker’s 211,000 sq. ft. building in Seneca, SC; AT&T’s 444,007 sq. ft. facility in Atlanta, GA; Prestolite’s 258,000 sq. ft. facility in Decatur, AL; Cooper Standard’s 200,000 sq. ft. facility in Griffin, GA; Fiskars’ 325,000 sq. ft. distribution facility in Opelika, AL; Werner Company’s 578,000 sq. ft. facility in Anniston, AL; and the 840,000 square foot former KB Toys building in Montgomery, Alabama. In addition Mr. Barber was part of the site location team that placed SKF’s 319,000 sq. ft. hub bearing manufacturing facility in Aiken, SC, and most recently worked on the site location and as tenant representative of Wal-Mart Stores which leased 342,000 SF in Spartanburg, SC, represented Jones Apparel Group in the sub-leasing of their 300,000 DC in Hanahan, SC, and also represented Mohawk Corporation in the sale of their 566,000 square foot distribution facility in Shannon, Georgia. Mr. Barber has also exclusively represented Russell Athletic Corporation in the sale of over 25 manufacturing and distribution buildings in the Southeast and is currently representing Mohawk Corporation with a portfolio of 24 manufacturing and distribution buildings in the Southeast US. Furthermore, Mr. Barber has been selected to advise and manage the disposition of an 8-property portfolio for Clayton Homes, a subsidiary a Berkshire Hathaway Corporation. A native of Aiken, SC, Mr. Barber received a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and has a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Before joining Binswanger, Mr. Barber worked with the South Carolina State Development Board, the predecessor to the Department of Commerce. He is a former President of the Georgia Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and a member of the South Carolina Economic Developers Association, the Georgia Economic Developers Association, the Economic Development Association of Alabama, and the Southern Economic Development Council.
