Colby Katz

Colby Katz is a commercial real estate broker who specializes in the leasing and sales of industrial, retail, office and investment properties in the East Bay market. He joins MRE as a partner in 2022 after working in Berkeley since 2014, completing approximately 150 transactions during that time. Colby acts as a resource to many local property/business owners who seek his advice while making important decisions. He’s an experienced negotiator and deal maker who has navigated sales involving SBA loans, 1031 exchanges, re-developments, and other transactional complexities. His extensive work in leasing and his detailed knowledge of local ordinances and politics provide him with a unique insight into the market that has proved valuable to many landlords, tenants, sellers, and buyers. Colby has also played a key role in the strategic growth of many well-known local companies and non-profits, ranging from booming tech start-ups to popular retail stores. He is an effective communicator who can work with all parties to find the best path forward for each unique situation. Colby is a native of Santa Cruz. He graduated from The George Washington University where he received dual degrees in Creative Writing and Dramatic Literature. Colby is an avid sports fan and enjoys traveling the world whenever possible. He is a resident of the Grand Lake neighborhood of Oakland.
