Chela Tu

A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, she has spent the last decade in service of local businesses big and small – advertising, sales, marketing, event production, and commercial brokerage. Chela spent 5 years at The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill Carrboro as VP of Member Engagement helping 1,200+ members access resources and people to gain recognition, grow their client base, and hire talent. Then, as an account executive for a local media company, she made it a priority to get to know and welcome each new business to the area. Chela, who is fluent in Mandarin, has also brokered transactions for clients in Hong Kong and Bratislava. Before proudly planting her roots in Chapel Hill, she lived in Beijing, China, teaching English as a Second Language for 8 years. Chela was also a Chinese as a Second Language instructor at the Chinese School of Chapel Hill for 6 years.
