Catherine Macken

Catherine specializes in commercial leasing and sales of retail properties in Oakland and Berkeley – representing tenants and landlords alike. Her own history of success started in 2009 when she launched Subrosa Coffee, a start-up venture located in Oakland’s Temescal District. She built the business from the ground up – directly managing all aspects of the design, build-out, permitting, lease negotiations, operations, and second location expansion. In 2020 Catherine sold Subrosa to States Coffee, and shortly thereafter began her career in commercial real estate. She enjoys the process of helping clients explore their goals and then working closely with them to make those goals a reality. She especially enjoys surprising clients with what you might call unexpected opportunities. Catherine’s creative, community-driven approach is deeply rooted in her educational background – a bachelor’s degree from the California College of the Arts
