First and foremost, I am married to Lori Mackey, who was born in Sumter County, Alabama, and graduated with an education degree from Auburn University and earned a Master's in Education from the University of West Alabama. She was a successful reading coach at Sunshine Elementary School, now she sells houses for BMRE. I am the proud and happy father of a twenty-one-year-old daughter (as of 1/22) and a junior at Auburn University. She is an exceptional performer and entertainer, equestrian and enjoys singing, dancing, puppies, and horses. She is my true joy in life, next to my wife. I was born and raised in Demopolis, AL was I first developed my love for land as a young boy by working cattle, fixing fences, and bailing hay on my grandparents' farm in Uniontown, a small town twenty miles east of Demopolis. There I learned the value of hard work, the impact of keeping your word, and the importance of building strong relationships with people in the community. I worked my way through school as a veterinarian assistant, shoeing horses at Auburn University, where I studied Animal and Dairy Science. On my summers off, I worked as a wrangler in Jackson Hole, Wyoming at the R Lazy S Ranch taking tourists on overnight horse-packed camping trips. The Teton Mountains views of Jackson Hole and vast landscapes of Yellowstone National Park only further instilled a love for the land and the outdoors I still embrace today. After graduating from Auburn, I moved back to Uniontown to begin my career as a cattleman and catfish farmer. Farming was very difficult in the early 80's with interest rates hovering around 20%, and in 1984 I began my career in real estate selling land and while also venturing into the restaurant business. I opened a restaurant in Faunsdale, Alabama known as the Faunsdale Bar and Grill and helped start the Alabama Crawfish Festival. I am a former Perry County Cattleman's Association President, I am on the vestry for both St. Michael's and Church of the Holy Cross Episcopal churches in Faunsdale and Uniontown, I am on the Board of Directors for the Point Clear Polo Club and have been a member for over 20 years, a Demopolis Rotarian, a Chairman of the Marengo County Economic Development Board, and a pilot since 1984. In addition to agricultural land brokerage, I also specialized in agricultural land appraisals and hold a Certified General Appraisal License along with the Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designations. I have been the market leader in land transactions for over a decade in the Black Belt Region and continue to offer first-rate products and services to all my clients.
