After graduating from Davidson College in 1978, Bill joined Heafner Tire as a Sales Associate (American Tire Distributors). He was promoted through various positions and eventually to President in 1990 and Chief Executive Officer in 1992. During his tenure as CEO, sales increased from $100 million to $950 million and Heafner bought two of their largest competitors and a retail company in California with 250 outlets. The company was sold in 1999 to an Investment firm from the Harvard Endowment. Bill eventually used his resources and contacts and started a career in Real Estate. Bill has worked with various government and political organizations that have given him unique insight into local politics and government. Bill’s family has been in the Lake Norman Region since 1803 to include positions as Mayors, District Attorneys, Council Members, Aldermen and Department of Transportation representatives appointed by the Governor.
