The Federal Government has approved the $1.9 billion South Mountain Loop 202 Freeway. Construction is planned to commence at the beginning of 2016 with 4 lanes in each direction stretching 22 miles to be completed by 2020. The City of Phoenix has designated this site for an intense large retail developments to be built in the Laveen area. This site is in the middle of a tremendous amount of residential growth. The strongest intersection in the trade area with the opening of the new Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway and the full-diamond interchange with Baseline Road.This area of metro Phoenix is experiencing a tremendous explosion in housing growth with over 8,000 additional single-family homes planned and 166 multi-family units under construction with another 220 units planned. Banner Health has recently purchased land on the west side of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway and has proposed a new hospital for that site.
