This acreage was once the site of a small metal shop (ruin) and service station (raised). The station has been removed in conjunction with the underground fuel tanks. The metal shop was constructed in 1904 (1,024 sf); the interior walls are unfinished. Piles of broken concrete and an old tractor trailer litter the western portion of the tract. The majority of the tract is relatively flat and overgrown with mixed pine and hardwood with moderate understory. The new Abbeville Industrial Park lies directly across HWY 280 (south) from the eastern end of the tract. The property is also convenient to the Ocmulgee River Canoe Trail, boat landings, the Enduring Farmlands Scenic Byway, the intersection of HWY 280 and HWY 129, Downtown Abbeville, and local events and festivals. Overlooking the Ocmulgee River, the tract is prime for commercial development and could host fast-food restaurants, a specialty food market, or state-of-the-art filling/service station.
