OVERVIEW

***All written, signed offers with earnest money will be seriously considered*** If there is a "The" prime corner in Comfort, Texas, this is it. This is the center of activity for the Historic Downtown of Comfort and that is the corner of 7th & High Streets. Currently leased to two businesses, one is a restaurant and the other is a wine bar. The lease will go to a month-to-month as the tenant would very much like to stay but new buyers will have the option of placing their own tenant or their own business(es). With almost 9600 sf of land of which most of it is improved and over 2150 sf of improvements (KCAD), this property has more commercial traffic on a daily basis than most. For more information, please call Scott Billingsley @ 210-573-6106 This building and this corner have quite a history that goes back to about 1854. Had you traveled to Comfort prior to 1900, you probably arrived by way of either foot, horse, or by train (1887), and if after 1920 you might have driven there by using the new Highway No. 9 which was one of 25 state highways and actually came into Comfort on High Street. It also went through metropolises like Waring, Welfare, Nelson City, and Boerne. So, it really shouldn't come as a surprise that High Street became "the" street of commerce and stayed that way for decades. 702 High Street has been the choice location for quite a few eateries that almost always served "The Coldest Beer," at least one saloon, a few antique shops, and places for gatherings including being used as a church on Sundays, and even a gas station. About the building: According to the local historians, the main building dates back to at least 1891 when it was a Saloon and faced 7th Street. In 1937, the then O.S.T. Café was threatened by a fire that took out the corner gas station and so the building was moved at an angle and stuccoed and has remained there ever since. The building was used as a restaurant probably up to 1988, called the "That Darn Barn Café." From 1989 to 2010 it was used as an antique shop and the lower ceilinged adjoining building was added. Sometime later, the property went through a transformation into what it is today. We are working on a brochure that gives a lot more history as the names associated with this property were quite prominent and some still are. Please feel free to call or email us.
