The Westory: A Historic Gem in Downtown DC. Once upon a time, nestled at the bustling intersection of 14th and F Streets, stood the Westory Building. Its story began over a century ago, in the early 1900s, when architect Henry L. A. Jekel envisioned a grand structure that would leave an indelible mark on the city. In 1907, construction commenced, and the Westory rose gracefully, reaching toward the sky. The building’s elegant terracotta façade, adorned with intricate details, spoke of an era when craftsmanship mattered.
But the Westory’s tale didn’t end there. In 1990, a full redevelopment and expansion breathed new life into its historic bones. Shalom Baranes Associates, renowned architects, wove modernity seamlessly into the original design. Step inside, and you’ll discover 270,000 square feet of office space spread across eleven floors including high-end modern, fitness, rooftop and meeting space amenities.
The Westory isn’t just a building; it’s a canvas for businesses to create their narratives. Imagine brainstorming sessions in sunlit rooms, collaborative lunches on the roof terrace, and post-workout endorphins in the fitness center. But the Westory isn’t merely bricks and mortar; it’s a living piece of history. Listed on both the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites and the National Register of Historic Places, it wears its heritage proudly. Green and healthy initiatives thrive within its walls. The Westory achieved Gold LEED EB 2009 certification as well as Fitwel certification, a testament to its commitment to sustainability. Energy efficiency, water use reduction, and thoughtful selection of materials—all part of its eco-conscious narrative.
