In addition to the purchase of the real estate, buyers are provided the opportunity to purchase the operating agricultural business Spring Born. The Spring Born indoor greenhouse is a commercial environmentally controlled agricultural facility providing year-around organic leafy greens and culinary herbs. The property includes two main structures: an automated greenhouse and a warehouse/processing facility on 254 acres of ranch land.
The current owner has construction drawings and infrastructre in-place for an additional ~130,000 square foot greenhouse.
The existing ~132,097 square foot greenhouse is comprised of nine connected bays; all of which are dedicated in-soil growing systems using Green Automation growing technology that yields eight times the per acre production and reduces water use by 95 percent over traditional farming. A connected ~32,928 square foot prefabricated metal building provides space for planting, processing, and storage. Both structures will utilize local natural gas heat and grid electricity.
At full capacity, the greenhouse will employee approximately twenty full-time positions that on average, will pay above market wages.
Utilizing numerous Colorado contractors, construction commenced in May of 2020 and was substantially completed in October of 2021. The operation is USDA Organically Certified. Food safety certification was obtained in early October 2021 and leafy green production commenced shortly thereafter.
The greenhouse’s leafy greens will deliver the key consumer benefits of organic, non-GMO, no pesticides and non-toxins, increased food safety and
locally grown freshness and be produced in a manner that minimize the usage of water and eliminates environmentally damaging run-off.
The greenhouse’s automated hands-free growing system practically eliminates exposure to human and field borne pathogens. The controlled environment will allow our growers to select seed varieties focused on nutritional value and taste over hardiness, as well as reduce the risk of lapses in production and delivery due to weather-related factors.
