This shopping center has been a fixture in the Elkview area north of Charleston for over 30 years. With the extremely high cost of preparing land for development, there is very little likelihood that any competitive shopping centers will be built in the future in the area. It is simply too expensive. For that reason, this is a focal point for a 25 mile radius going up the elk River and through the various streams in the watershed. The shopping center is almost full and, following the closure of the Kmart, there have been numerous offers to take that space and make something major out of it. Plans are currently underway to repurpose the Kmart space. When that happens, and the very small 2500 square-foot former RadioShack space leases, and this space leases, the entire shopping center will be full. The steakhouse which had been on shaky ground for many years time is now under lease to a franchisee of Wings, etc., and they hope to open within the next 60 days with a sitdown restaurant which also is a sports bar. That type of facility is much welcomed in the Elkview area, as there are very few sitdown restaurants nearby. It is the likely best addition to the shopping center that is come along in quite a while.
The 2500 sf space was formerly Radio Shack. The 6500 sf space was formerly Goodwill Industries, who did a very good business in the SC, and escalated from 6500 sf to 15,000,sf. by moving around the corner. The smaller space was closed down by Radio Shack, which closed most of their stores.
Anyone that is taking this space would likely do good business because of the demographics of the area.
