The Newton House located at 11 N. Batavia Avenue is full of historical charm! This home is one of the most historic places in Kane County. Built in 1878 by Don Carlos Newton, owner of the Newton Wagon Manufacturing Company. In 1921, the Library Board purchased the property and from 1921-1981, the building was the home of the Batavia Public Library. In the 1980's, the library relocated and the Newton House was then renovated into office and retail spaces. Today you'll find a variety of small business in the building including: Bocaditos Cafe, Perfect Balance, Big Owl Interactive,Wren and Rose Photography, Smitherman and Associates Insurance and a host of other small businesses. The Newton House sits at the corner of Wilson and Route 31, the entry point into Downtown Batavia. It's conveniently located within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants and ironically, the current Batavia Public Library is now located across the street!
