Barkell is a cold shell – the kids vandalized this building, recently. Structurally, it is good with walls all as cement block walls in classrooms and hallway. No environmental or survey – historically, always been a school building .
The city’s preference for the site are housing projects or school/educational use….
This site is directly across from the General Motors Propulsion Systems World Headquarters on Joslyn/near I-75. This former school building – almost 40,000 sf – has been cared for but vandals continue to erase our progress at the school site. As of late, vandals tried to set our building on fire --the fire department took out every one of our windows. Leaving our historical building in rough condition. The building has very strong bones, still.
We are pleased to being to market the former Labaron School Elementary School in Pontiac. The building was designed and built with fine architectural details. The two-story complex features a massive open space gymnasium and performance/stage space, locker rooms, shower rooms with high ceilings alongside sprung wooden floors and full cafeteria/kitchen facilities. The school offers over 20 classrooms and several small offices. The building was built with a solid brick and concrete construction.
The location is idea as it the area employers include Amazon, Lee Contracting, United Shore Mortgage. In the immediate area, General Motors Performance & Racing Center and General Motors Propulsion Systems World Headquarters, G.M. Stamping, USPS Michigan Metroplex P&DC, City Glass Company
Previously a small fire occurred in the gymnasium, whereby the fire department busted the windows. Since then, Ownership has been embarking on a project to clean-up and rehab the school. He is in the process of gutting the school and manicuring the lawn, now he is able to secure workers.
The site has been vacant for a decade, and all the equipment FF&E are the original equipment. The property is situated off Joslyn Ave, between E. Walton Blvd and N. Perry St. The I-75 interchange provides immediate access to local freeways and expressways to local communities serving Oakland and Macomb counties.
